What makes Tibet train unique?

In recent years, “Tibet train”, “train to Lhasa” and “Qinghai-Tibet Railway” have become hot words on internet. As Qinghai-Tibet Railway is the highest track in the world, it is not strange for such a railway to rise to fame overnight. Then what makes Tibet train famous? In my opinion, it is because of its humanized and environment-friendly design.

As we know, the train to Tibet has to pass through areas at high altitude, with fragile ecological environment, harsh climate and low oxygen content. If common trains are used, it is not comfortable for passengers. Most importantly, it is not safe. Thus, the trains must be well-designed based on the special conditions on the plateau with high elevation, low temperature, lack of oxygen, harsh climate. Yes, the designers did it and created the unique and best train in the world.

At first, the train is pressurized like aircraft since it runs through areas over 4,000 meters. Then, the train is provided with a good air-condition system to maintain the temperature in the train at a comfortable level no matter the train is running at a low altitude or a high altitude.

But the above are not its highlights. As lack of oxygen is the biggest challenge for travelers to Tibet, the oxygen supply system is the most important design of Tibet train. Each train has two oxygen-supply systems, one for keeping the oxygen content in the train in a reasonable level, the other for passengers’ personal use.

In addition, the designers also gave serious consideration to protecting the environment.  All the trains are installed with environment-friendly toilets, wastewater deposit tanks and garbage treatment facilities to achieve zero garbage emission and protect environment along the railroad.

Another highlight of the train is its windows. All the windows are covered by anti-ultraviolet film so as to protect passengers from wind, sand and ultraviolet radiation. The materials of the curtain, floor and berths on the train are all flame-resistant.

So why not travel to Tibet by train to experience its unique designs and enjoy the breathtaking scenery on the Tibetan Plateau?
