Everest is the top attraction in Tibet.
Every year, it attracts visitors from all over the world. Travelers can travel
from Lhasa to Everest Base Camp or Kathmandu to EBC. It usually takes
around 7 or 8 days to finish the tour by car, but it will be more interesting
to trek
from Tingri to Everest Base Camp.
The whole trek route is aroud 70km long and
it needs about 3 or 4 days to finish this trek. Trekkers are highly recommended
to do it in four whole days. In this case, they will have enough time to
explore the valleys and glaciers below the massive north-face of Mt. Everest
and view the most magnificent world's highest mountain scenery.
This Tibet
trekking tour provides a heady mix of solitude, wildlife sighting and
physical challenge, onagers and gazelle thriving around the trail, and you
might even get lucky and see a Tibetan brown bear rambling in the pastures. Aside
from breathtaking scenery, travellers can also experience unique Sherpa culture
by visiting their home. The heady mix of natural beauty, fascinating culture
and a personal sense of achievement, as well as warm Tibetan hospitality, makes
the trekking one of the world’s most unforgettable.
Before starting this trek, travelers must be
fully acclimatised to the high alititude of Tibet as the trekking region has an
altitude between 4400m and 5300m that easily causes high altitude sickness. One
can spend 2 or 3 days at Lhasa (3650m) for acclimation, and then take a private
car from Lhasa to Tingri (4390m) and spend another one or two days at Tingri
for further acclimation and preparation.
During trekking, travelers should stay in
the sight of the tour guide. This area is sparsely populated and the trek route
is off the main road. Mobile phones also do not work at this remote region.
Once getting lost in the wild, travelers are faced with hidden risks.
